David Zohmangaiha of Mizoram become first Mizo to scale Mount Everest


38 years old Mr.David Zohmangaiha S/o K. Zokhuma (L) of Republic Veng, Aizawl, Mizoram, North East India has become the first Mizo (Mizoram's Man) to scale the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest  He, along with team members, set foot on the mountain peak at 5:30 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2013 while three climbers from the same team scaled the Mt Everest on Friday.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today announced that the state government would give Rs five lakh to David Zohmangaiha who was among the climbers from the north east to scale the Mount Everest, an official statement said here today.

Another person from Mizoram, Vanllaliana, who was in the team as a base camp manager from the state Sports and Youth Services department, would also be given Rs three lakh.
